Iguazu Falls is an important highlight of any South America travel plan and can easily be reached from Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo. Spelled with a "Z", this is the Argentinean side of the famous falls. Iguazu Falls is twelve miles from Puerto Iguazu. The deep flowing waters of the river fall from a height of 210 feet through 275 falls. The national park is full of the exotic subtropical vegetation that surrounds the falls, including gigantic trees, ferns, lianas and 100 bird species, such as parrots, toucans and hummingbirds.
Transfer from the airport to the Sheraton Hotel in Iguazu. UNESCO has included these magnificent falls, surrounded by the most exuberant flora and fauna, among the natural monuments that are considered Patrimony of Humanity. Take the afternoon options excursion with a naturalist guide to the falls, walking what is known as the "superior and inferior paths" for a close up view of this marvel.
This morning, visit the Brazilian side of the falls. In the afternoon, go by boat from Puerto Canoas leading to the platform that overlooks Devil's Throat. This is the main fall, where the Iguazu River drops more that 240 feet! Go to the bottom of the San Martin and Tres Mosqueteros falls, for an outstanding view of the Devil's Throat. Also take a walking safari through the jungle, along the Yacaratea Path, up to the Arrachea Fall. Return to the Argentiean side and your hotel in the afternoon.
